El Centro, CA – After a weekend out in the scorching desert of Southern California at a watering hole called “Imperial Lakes,” the USD Ski Team returned to San Diego with PBs for all those who competed!  Junior Ramon Smith ran his first pass at a tournament posting 6@28 – 15 off and 2.5@30 – 15 off!  Bryce Lewis, a graduate student, earned his first buoy at a tournament with 2@28 – 15 off!  Throughout the weekend, Junior Katie Smith and Sophomore Chris Blay were neck and neck competing for 1st place on the team.  Going into Sunday, both had run 2.5@32 – 15 off (a personal best for Katie and a tied tournament personal best for Chris) and had trick scores of 450, a personal best for both!  All that stood in the way of the victor was jump.  Chris landed 2 out of 3 jumps with longest jump of 39 feet.  Katie bested Chris landing 2 out of 3, but with a longest jump of 48 feet, beating Chris by 9 feet! The team is looking forward to the Bakersfield tournament where they all hope to better their scores.
